Re: College Life- Dos and Don'ts
I am curious to hear student reactions to the list of do's and don'ts. I got a lot of feedback in class that indicated some pretty big differences among our cultures regarding gift-giving.

Never bring a friend withyou to a party or dinner, unless you have asked the host if ot is okay.

Interesting topic, Dos and Don't, and American experience.
I wish I can learn more from this topic. I am very curious about different cultures, different people, different perspectives.

Take daily shower.
Always be on time---between 5 minutes early and 5 minutes late, no more.
Do not laugh at the fat men or disabled men.
Do not take someone to the party or dinner without the host's consent.
Do not call professor "teacher", it is impolite.

Dos and Don'ts in America
As is known to all, the United States is the most developed country in the world, every year tens of thousands of students to the United States to study, in which few people actually understand American culture, now we discuss what to do in the United States, what not to do.
Firstly, and different from China, under U.S. law, people under the age of 21 must not buy alcohol, drink, rent a car, enter a bar, etc.
Secondly, seat belts must be fastened wherever they are in the car.
Thirdly, When driving, when you encounter a police car, an ambulance, or a fire engine, you must slow down and stop until it passes; the right turn of the vehicle must slow down to make sure no pedestrians pass.
Fourthly, the United States is a capitalist country, tip for meals, taxis, shopping.
Fifthly, if you are normal, you must not park your car in the car seat of the disabled, or you will be punished very badly.
Sixthly, American restaurants rarely offer chopsticks, usually with knives and forks.
I do think no matter how big the difference between American culture and Chinese culture, as long as we study hard, we can integrate into the society well.

American culture is different from Chinese culture. For example, history, historical relics and human's progress.According to this different things,I think American traffic is better than China's.In China, the people do not observe the traffic regulation, this problem always leads to traffic congestion. In additionally, the United States is always polite to pedstrians.Maybe it's about the issue of the polulation. We should yield to pedestrians and not to cross the red light.
